Front Suspension (Commercial Chassis)
^ Tools Required:
- J 35315 Ball Stud Separator
- J 35551 Ball Stud Nut Wrench
- Or Equivalents
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Raise and support the vehicle.
2. Tire and wheel assembly.
NOTICE: Care must be exercised to prevent CV joints from being over-extended. When either end of the shaft is disconnected over-extension of the joint could result in separation of internal components and possible joint failure. Drive axle joint seal protectors should be used any time service is performed on or near the drive axles. Failure to observe this can result in interior joint or seal damage and possible joint failure.
3. Road sensing suspension position sensor from lower control arm.
4. Lower ball joint from knuckle.
5. Control arm bushing bolt and brake reaction rod nut, retainer and insulator.
6. Control arm from frame.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Control arm to frame.
2. Control arm bushing bolt and brake reaction rod nut, retainer and insulator. Do not tighten.
3. Lower ball joint to knuckle.
^ Tighten ball joint nut to 175 Nm (129 ft. lbs.) plus an additional flat for cotter pin installation.
4. Road sensing suspension position sensor to lower control arm.
5. Tire and wheel assembly.
^ Tighten wheel nuts to 190 Nm (140 ft. lbs.).
6. Lower vehicle and allow it to assume proper trim height.
^ Tighten:
- Control arm bushing nut to 126 Nm (94 ft. lbs.).
- Control arm bushing horizontal bolt 157 Nm (116 ft. lbs.).
- Brake reaction rod nut to 126 Nm (94 ft. lbs.).
