Drive Pinion Inner Bearing Removal Procedure

^ Tool Required:
- J 22912-01 Inner Pinion Bearing Remover
- J 8608 Inner Race Installer/Driver
- J 8092 Driver Handle
- J 42154 Inner/Outer Race Remover/Driver

1. Remove the differential drive pinion seal from the rear axle housing.
2. Perform the following steps if replacing the inner bearing:





A. Mount the J 42154 on the J 8092.
B. Position the J 42154 off center of the race to one side or the other where the tool can firmly seat on the race.
C. Use a hammer or use a press to drive the differential drive pinion gear inner bearing race from the rear axle housing while rotating the tool around the edge of the race.





3. Remove the differential drive pinion gear shim (1) from the differential housing (2).
4. Use the J 22912-01 and a press to separate the differential drive pinion gear inner bearing from the differential drive pinion gear.
