Generator Replacement

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

Generator Replacement: Removal Procedure:




1. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
2. Remove the intake air resonator.
3. Remove the drive belt. .
4. Raise the vehicle on a suitable support.
5. Remove the field coil terminal nut and lead (1).
6. Remove the battery terminal nut and lead (2).
7. Remove the air cooling duct.

Generator Replacement: Removal Procedure:




8. Remove the following generator mounting components:
8.1. The upper mounting nut (4)
8.2. The lower mounting nut
8.3. The lower mounting bolt (2)
9. Push out the upper mounting bolt through the generator and the bracket.
10. Lower the vehicle.
11. Remove the generator (3).

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

Generator Replacement: Removal Procedure:




1. Position the generator (3) in the mounting position.
2. Raise the vehicle on a suitable support.
3. Insert the upper mounting bolt (1) into the generator.
4. Install the lower mounting bolt (2).
5. Install the lower mounting nut.
Tighten
Tighten the lower mounting bolt and nut to 40 N.m (30 lb ft.).
6. Install the upper mounting nut (4).
Tighten
Tighten the upper mounting bolt and nut to 40 N.m (30 lb ft.).
7. Install the air cooling duct.

Generator Replacement: Removal Procedure:




8. Install the field coil terminal lead and nut (1).
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 3.5 N.m (31 lb in).
9. Install the battery terminal lead and nut (2).
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 8 N.m (71 lb in).
10. Lower the vehicle.
11. Install the drive belt.
12. Install the intake air resonator.
13. Connect the battery negative cable.
Tighten
Tighten the battery negative cable nut to 15 N.m (11 lb ft.).
14. Reprogram all applicable accessories as required.
