Continuously Variable Road Sensing Suspension (Cvrss)
Fig. 76 Code RS0051: Control Module Calibration Fault.:
TEST CONDITIONS:
The CVRSS control module performs checks of all internal calibration data memory spaces.
FAULT CONDITIONS:
If any of several calibration spaces contain suspect data, a code is set.
ACTION TAKEN:
Depending upon which internal functions are affected by suspect calibration data, the CVRSS control module will take one of two sets of actions. If the fault condition allows continued output operation the system will enter a "Speed Dependent Damping" mode, in which all four dampers are concurrently driven by a fixed PWM duty cycle which changes (generally increases) as a function of vehicle speed. Otherwise (if the fault condition is more severe), the control module will disable ALL dampers (by commanding 0% PWM duty cycle and disabling the Damper Return circuits) and send a message to the Powertrain control Module (PCM) to limit vehicle speed. In the latter case, the Magnetic Speed Variable Assist (MSVA) steering control will default to a medium assist level. In either case, the CVRSS control module will set the fault code and turn on the "SERVICE RIDE CONTROL" message.
DESCRIPTION:
The CVRSS control module performs, checks of internal calibration data. If a fault condition is detected, the CVRSS control module will set the fault code, and may, depending upon the fault type, turn on the "SERVICE RIDE CONTROL" message. Additionally, depending upon the type of the internal fault, the system will either enter a "Speed Dependent Damping" mode or disable all dampers, the MSVA steering control will default to a medium assist level and a message will be sent to the PCM to cause vehicle speed to be limited. Recovery from any controller hardware fault condition is attempted only after ignition is cycled off and on.
NOTES ON FAULT TREE:
1. After recalibrating the CVRSS control module using the Scan Tool, always perform the Steering Autocenter Adjustment and ELC Trim Height Adjustment before proceeding to other steps in the diagnostic procedure.
2. Service replacement control modules will have a code RSOO51 stored in memory when shipped. After replacement of a control module, the following procedures must be performed:
^ CVRSS control module calibration
^ Steering Autocenter adjustment.
^ ELC trim height adjustment. Adjustments
3. Clear codes. Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes
