Continuously Variable Road Sensing Suspension (Cvrss)

Fig. 74 Code RS0044: Left/Dive Signal Fault.:

DTC RS0044 Lift/Dive Signal Fault:

TEST CONDITIONS:
The CVRSS control module monitors the lift/dive signal which is pulled low and then high by the PCM after vehicle crank.

FAULT CONDITIONS:
If the CVRSS control module does not see the low-to-high transition within 31 seconds after key on, it sets a lift/dive signal error.

ACTION TAKEN:
Set code RS0044, disable lift/dive function, and retest every 4 minutes.

DESCRIPTION:
For 1 to 31 seconds after vehicle crank, the CVRSS control module monitors the lift/dive signal. if no signal is detected, this error is activated. Recovery from this fault condition is attempted once every 4 minutes until successful.

The lift signal is calculated in the PCM and is based on throttle position, vehicle speed, and transmission gear. The dive signal, also calculated in the PCM, is based on rate of change of vehicle speed.

NOTES ON FAULT TREE:
1. Refer to Intermittant.
2. An intermittent short to ground or open on circuit 1490 may cause a random firm/soft ride condition.
3. Clear codes. Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes

NOTES ON INTERMITTENTS:
The following conditions may cause code RS0044 to set intermittently:

^ PCM or CVRSS connectors are loose and ignition is keyed "ON."

History codes are used to help diagnose intermittent fault conditions and do not necessarily indicate a faulty CVRSS module. The CVRSS module itself is a reliable component and is not likely the cause of the malfunction. Most system complaints are linked to faulty wiring and connectors and, occasionally, components. Performing a thorough inspection of all related wiring and connectors pertaining to the history code stored will reduce diagnostic time and prevent unnecessary part replacement. if the problem is intermittent, try performing the tests shown while wiggling wiring and connectors. This can often cause the malfunction to appear. Check for poor connections at both the CVRSS module and the related components. These could cause an open, short, or an intermittent malfunction.
