Continuously Variable Road Sensing Suspension (Cvrss)

Fig. 73 Code RS0043: Speed Signal Fault.:

DTC RS0043 Speed Signal Fault:

TEST CONDITIONS:
The CVRSS control module compares calculated road speed to the speed data received over UART.

FAULT CONDITIONS:
Car must be driven over 20 mph for code to set. If the UART road speed is greater than 20 MPH while the CVRSS road speed is less than 3 MPH for 10 seconds, this fault is activated.

ACTION TAKEN:
Set code RS0043, turn on "SERVICE RIDE CONTROL" message, and assume UART road speed.

DESCRIPTION:
With every regularly scheduled UART communication, the CVRSS control module receives road speed data. The module compares this road speed to the CVRSS calculated road speed. If the UART road speed is greater than 20 MPH while the CVRSS road speed is less than 3 MPH for 10 seconds, this fault is activated.

NOTES ON FAULT TREE:
1. Refer to Intermittant.
2. Clear codes. Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes

NOTES ON INTERMITTENTS:
An intermittent short to ground, open circuit, or short to voltage could cause an intermittent SSS assist condition and/or an intermittent firm or soft ride condition.

History codes are used to help diagnose intermittent fault conditions and do not necessarily indicate a faulty CVRSS module. The CVRSS module itself is a reliable component and is not likely the cause of the malfunction. Most system complaints are linked to faulty wiring and connectors and, occasionally, components. Performing a thorough inspection of all related wiring and connectors pertaining to the history code stored will reduce diagnostic time and prevent unnecessary part replacement. If the problem is intermittent, try performing the tests shown while "wiggling" wiring and connectors. This can often cause the malfunction to appear. Check for poor connections at both the CVRSS module and the related components. These could cause an open, short, or an intermittent malfunction.
