File In Section: 3 - Steering/SuspensionBulletin No.: 63-34-01
Date: July, 1996
Subject:
Squawk Noise from Rear of Vehicle in Cold Temperature (Install New Stabilizer Shaft Insulator)
Models:
1996 Cadillac Concours, DeVille, Eldorado, Seville
Condition
Some owners may comment on a "squawk" noise from the rear of the vehicle while driving over bumps or during a vehicle twist in cold temperature environments.
Cause
This condition may be caused by a stabilizer shaft insulator mold change to improve the assembly process at the assembly plant. However, slight distortion occurs during assembly which can produce noise when temperatures are near or below freezing.
Correction
Install new revised stabilizer shaft insulator to the rear stabilizer shaft following appropriate service procedure in Section 3D of the Service Manual.
