Removal

Removal Procedure

Caution: In order to avoid personal injury when a vehicle is on a hoist, provide additional support for the vehicle on the opposite end from which components are being removed. This will reduce the possibility of the vehicle falling off the hoist.

Notice: Numbers in text correspond to numbered components in image.

1. Relieve the fuel system pressure, refer to Fuel Pressure Release.

2. Drain the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank / Service and Repair.

Important: If nylon fuel feed or return pipes become kinked, and cannot be straightened, they must be replaced.

Fuel Tank And Fuel Supply Lines:





3. Disconnect the fuel feed pipe (4) at the filter (5) and return pipe (6) near fuel filter.





4. Grasp both ends of the fuel feed pipe connection and twist 1/4 turn in each direction to loosen any dirt in quick connect fittings.

Caution: Wear safety glasses when using compressed air because flying did particles may cause eye injury.





5. Blow out dirt from quick connect fittings, using compressed air.





6. Squeeze plastic tabs of male end connector of fuel filter.





7. Pull connection apart.

8. Grasp both ends of one fuel return pipe connection and twist 1/4 turn in each direction to loosen any dirt in quick connect fittings.

Caution: Wear safety glasses when using compressed air because flying dirt particles may cause eye injury.

9. Blow out dirt from quick connect fittings, using compressed air.

10. Squeeze plastic tabs of male end connector of fuel filter.

11. Pull connection apart.

12. Disconnect the fuel fill hose and vent hose at fuel tank.

Fuel Tank With Sending Unit:





13. Disconnect the fuel sender electrical connector (1).

14. Remove the exhaust heat shield screws and reposition shield.
