Installation
Installation Procedure1. Install fuel sender assembly. Refer to Fuel Sender Assembly / Service and Repair.
Important: Assure proper location of fuel sender pipes.
2. Install fuel tank retaining straps attaching bolts with the aid of an assistant.
3. Raise fuel tank and connect EVAP pipe. Tighten the strap bolts to 34 Nm (26 lb ft).
4. Install exhaust heat shield screws.
5. Connect fuel sender electrical connector.
Caution: In order to reduce the risk of fire and personal injury, before connecting fuel pipe fittings, always apply a few drops of clean engine oil to the male pipe ends. This will ensure proper reconnection and prevent a possible fuel leak. During normal operation, the O-rings located in the female connector will swell and may prevent proper reconnection it not lubricated.
6. Connect fuel fill hose and vent hose to fuel tank.
7. Install fuel feed and return pipe quick-connect fittings. Apply a few drops of clean engine oil to the male connector pipe ends.
8. Push connectors together to cause the retaining tabs/fingers to snap into place.
9. Once installed, pull on both ends of each connection to make sure connection is secure.
10. Lower the vehicle
Fuel Filler Cap:
11. Add fuel and install fuel filler cap.
11.1. Turn ignition switch to On for 2 seconds.
11.2. Turn the ignition switch to Off for 5 seconds.
11.3. Turn the ignition switch On.
11.4. Check for fuel leaks.
