Rear Fuel Hose and EVAP Pipe

Preliminary Step
Relieve the fuel System Pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Release.

Notice:
^ If nylon pipes become kinked, and cannot be straightened, they must be replaced.

^ Do not attempt to repair sections of nylon pipes. If damaged, replace.

^ When replacing EVAP pipes, always replace them with original equipment or parts that meet the GM specifications for those parts.

^ When replacing EVAP hoses always replace them with original equipment or parts meeting GM specifications. Use only reinforced fuel-resistant hose which is identified with the word Fluoroelastomers or GM 6163-M on the hose.

Removal Procedure

Notice: Numbers in text correspond to numbered components in image.

1. Remove the hardware retaining section of hose to be replaced. Note the location of attaching hardware for installation.

2. Remove the fuel tank (1). If replacing vent valve (2) hose to EVAP canister, refer to Fuel Tank / Service and Repair.

3. If replacing EVAP pipe from fuel filter to EVAP canister, remove the quick-connect fitting at fuel filter. Refer to Quick-Connect Fittings / Service and Repair.

4. Remove the section of pipe or hose.

5. Inspect the hoses for cuts, swelling, cracks and distortion.

6. Replace the pipes or hoses as required.

Installation Procedure

Notice: Follow the same routing as the original pipes and hoses. Pipes and hoses must be properly secured to prevent chafing.

1. Install the pipe or hose.

2. Install the fuel tank (1). If replacing vent valve hose to EVAP canister, refer to Fuel Tank / Service and Repair.

3. Install the quick-connect fitting at fuel filter if replacing EVAP pipe from fuel filter to EVAP canister. Refer to Quick-Connect Fittings / Service and Repair.

4. Install the retaining hardware.

5. Inspect for leaks.

5.1. Turn the ignition switch ON for 2 seconds.

5.2. Turn the ignition switch OFF for 5 seconds.

5.3. Turn the ignition switch ON.

5.4. Check for fuel leaks.
