Circuit Operation - Interior Lights Dimming
Incandescent Dimming 1 (INC DIM 1)The Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) controls the dimming of the VF displays and the incandescent backlighting. When the park lamps are OFF and the Ignition Switch is in RUN, the IPC sets the VF displays dimming level at full intensity. If the park lamps are activated, the IPC uses ambient light level and the Panel Dimming Control setting to calculate the dimming level for the VF displays and the incandescent lamps on the INC DIM 1circuit. When the park lamps are ON, the activation of the INC DIM lamps is not affected by the status of the Twilight Photocell (ambient light level) or the Ignition Switch. The VF displays can only be dimmed when the Ignition Switch is in RUN and the park lamps are ON The incandescent lamps can be dimmed when the park lamps are on regardless of ignition state. When the park lamps are deactivated, the incandescent lamps are deactivated.
Incandescent Dimming 2 (INC DIM 2)
The INC DIM 2output is used as a general interior light source and an illuminated entry feature that provides interior lighting when the Twilight Photocell indicates darkness and the courtesy lamps are ON. When the courtesy lamps are activated, the IPC sets the INC DIM 2lamps at full intensity. The INC DIM 2lamps are also activated whenever the park lamps are activated. If the park lamps are ON, the IPC uses ambient light level and the Panel Dimming Control setting to calculate the dimming level for the INC DIM 2lamps. When the park lamps are ON, the activation of the INC DIM 2lamps is not affected by the status of the Twilight Photocell (ambient light level) or the Ignition Switch.
