Indicator Disclosures
This subsection is arranged in indicator order. Each indicator is described in terms of controlling (initiating) signal source. The indicators are controlled by either the IPC microprocessor or by other devices with a discrete input to the IPC. The Class 2 serial data bus is used by microprocessors in other modules to request that the IPC display specified messages. Some indicators have dual controls.
Left Turn (Green)
The LEFT TURN indicator is illuminated by the IPC any time the left turn signal input is received directly from the turn/hazard switch on connector C2 terminal "A2" in "RUN" only.
Right Turn (Green)
The RIGHT TURN indicator is illuminated by the IPC any time the right turn signal input is received directly from the turn/hazard switch on connector C2 terminal "Hi" in "RUN" only.
Hazard (Red)
The HAZARD indicator is illuminated by the IPC any time that right and left turn signal inputs are received directly from the turn/hazard switch at the same time (on connector C2 terminals "A2" and "B1"). This indicator is powered by Controlled Power, and therefore will function at key "OFF"
High Beam (Blue)
The HIGH BEAM indicator is illuminated by the IPC any time the high beam headlight signal input is received directly from the steering column switch on connector C2, terminal "B8" in "RUN" only.
Park Brake (Red)
The PARK BRAKE indicator is illuminated by the IPC whenever the park brake signal is received directly from the Park Brake switch on connector C2 terminal "A1."
Brake (Red)
The BRAKE indicator is turned "ON" whenever a LOW BRAKE FLUID or SERVICE BRAKE FLUID SWITCH condition exists. Low Brake Fluid is a discrete input to the IPC (connector C2 terminal "A11") from the Brake Fluid switch, which goes to ground on a low fluid condition. The Service Brake Fluid Switch condition exists whenever the Low Brake Fluid Switch input goes above the normal 4 volt level, reflecting an open or similar switch condition.
Service Engine Soon (Yellow)
The "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" indicator is directly connected to connector c2 terminal "A3," by hard wire from the PCM, which provides the ground for the indicator illumination.
Anti lock Brake (ABS) (Yellow)
The ANTILOCK BRAKE indicator has dual controls. This indicator will illuminate via hard wire control to connector C2 terminal "B2," from the Brake Controller, which will provide a ground when the Electronic Brake and Traction Control Module (EBTCM) is disconnected. The IPC will also light the indicator when requested by Body Control Module (PZM) Class 2 serial data bus serial message.
Air Bag (Red)
The AIR BAG indicator is directly controlled by a wire to connector C2 terminal "B3," from the Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM), which provides the ground for the indicator illumination.
Traction Control (Yellow)
The TRACTION CONTROL indicator is illuminated by the IPC as requested by the Body Control Module (PZM) via Class 2 serial message.
Security (Yellow)
The SECURITY indicator is directly controlled (ON and OFF) by the IPC as requested by the Body Control Module (PZM) over the Class 2 serial data bus.
Seatbelt (Red)
The SEATBELT indicator is directly controlled (ON and OFF) by the IPC as requested by Class 2 serial data bus message from the Body Control Module (PZM).
Coolant Temperature (Red)
The COOLANT TEMPERATURE indicator is illuminated if either "ENGINE COOLANT HOT IDLE ENGINE" or "STOP ENGINE ENGINE OVERHEATED" conditions exist via Class 2 serial data bus message from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
Oil Pressure (Red)
The OIL PRESSURE indicator is illuminated by the IPC whenever a low oil pressure condition exists via Class 2 serial data bus message request from the PCM.
Battery-No Charge (Red)
The BATTERY-NO CHARGE indicator is illuminated by the IPC if an Alternator L-terminal malfunction is detected by a discrete input at connector C1 terminal "A9."
Catalytic Converter (Red)
The CATALYTIC CONVERTER indicator is illuminated by the IPC whenever the Catalytic Converter Overtemperature direct input wire to the cluster connector C2 terminal "Al2," is high. This indicator is an export only feature.
