General Description

NOTICE: Refer to User's Guide that accompanied the cellular phone for information on special functions not covered in this Section. Some information may change as a result of telephone function and programming changes from the manufacturer.

The cellular mobile telephone allows the occupants of the vehicle to place and receive telephone calls. The vehicle must be in a geographic location which is serviced by a cellular telephone site.

The mobile telephone features Voice Recognition for hands free usage including dialing, memory retrieval1 and credit card calling. These features operate in conjunction with the audio system, steering wheel controls, and Driver Information Center. The Voice Recognition feature does not have to be programmed to recognize the users voice due to the systems 400 different voice types that are programmed into the Voice Recognition Feature. The microphone for Voice Recognition mounts within the overhead console with the garage door opener.

HANDSET

The mobile telephone handset is located in the console on full console equipped vehicle's or on the forward end on vehicles equipped with a mini console. The handset must be turned "ON" in order to place or receive calls.

HANDS FREE OPERATION

Hands free operation allows the vehicles occupants to carry on a conversation without removing the handset from its base. During the conversation, hands free operation is automatic. The conversation is carried on by the use of the overhead console mounted hands free microphone and the audio system speakers.

MICROPHONE

The microphone, located in the overhead console, is used during Hands Free mode.The microphone may be muted during a call while in the hands free mode. This is useful when the driver wishes to confer privately with a passenger.

TRANSCEIVER

The transceiver is located in the trunk on the right inner wheel well, behind the rear compartment trim.

ANTENNA ASSEMBLY

The antenna is a 3dB noiseless design, located on the back lite.

BASIC PHONE OPERATIONS

^ Turn phone ON-Press and hold PWR key for one second or greater until phone handset display is illuminated.

^ Turn phone OFF-Press and hold PWR key for one second or greater until phone handset display is dark.

^ Placing a call-Enter number on keypad, press SND key.

^ Ending a call-Press END key.

^ Receiving a call-A call is received only if the phone is ON. When the hone rings the call can be answered by pressing SND or by pressing handset key other than the volume key or PWR key.

^ Phone Feature customization-There are 33 features in the function menu along with personalization of phone directories that can be modified by the owner.

^ Store Voice Recognition (VR) name tag-Numbers can be prestored under a specified voice name tag for later ease of use with future phone operation.
