CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
DTC IP 1981 will set if the engine RPM is greater than 1500 and the Controlled Power voltage at the IPC is outside its normal range for 2 seconds. If voltage is less than 10.0 volts DTC IP 1981 will set and the DIC will display "BATTERY VOLTS LOW." If voltage falls below approximately 9.0 volts, the IPC displays will temporarily turn "OFF" for protection. The full console climate control panel VF (54 volts) and the 16 volt output to the radio will be turned off.
DTC CHART TEST DESCRIPTION
Test numbers refer to circled numbers on the diagnostic chart.
1. This test determines whether the malfunction is in the charging circuitry or the IPC.
2. This test checks for the malfunction in the charging system.
