CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION

DTC IP 1557 indicates the Calibration portion of the IPC EEPROM, which stores calibrations for analog gage accuracy, manufacturing information, vehicle option information and VIN has an unrecoverable error.

ACTION TAKEN (BY IPC)

Default calibrations will be used in the event of this DTC being set. The analog gages may become less accurate, any manufacturing data stored will be set to zero, the vehicle identification number will be all 0's and the option byte information will be set as follows:

1. Option Byte A:

^ Universal Theft Deterrent Enable OFF

^ Interior Air Purge OFF

2. Option Byte B:

^ European Economic Community Mode OFF

^ Japanese Mode OFF

^ Saudi Arabian Mode OFF

^ Canadian Mode OFF

^ Norway/Sweden Mode OFF

3. Option Byte C:

^ Daytime Running Lamps ON

^ Premium Unleaded Fuel Display Disable OFF

^ Cellular telephone Present OFF

^ Brake to Shift Interlock Message Suppression OFF

^ Options Not Set Message on DIC ON

^ Low Fuel Level Message Suppression OFF

4. Option Byte D:

^ Afterblow Option OFF

^ After-boil Option OFF

^ De-Ice Option OFF

^ Timed Recirculation OFF

5. Option Byte E:

^ Coolant Temperature on DIC OFF

^ Battery Volts on DIC OFF

^ Engine RPM on DIC OFF

^ Average Speed on DIC OFF

^ Vehicle Speed on DIC OFF

^ Fuel Used on DIC OFF

^ Instantaneous Fuel Economy on DIC OFF

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS

The IPC must be replaced. Contact an authorized Delco service center. The failed IPC may be used by the service center to obtain the calibration data for the replacement IPC.
