CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION

DTC IP 1556 indicates that the odometer portion of the IPC EEPROM, which stores the vehicle mileage, has an unrecoverable error in it and is no longer accurate.

ACTION TAKEN (BY IPC)

"ERROR" will be displayed in place of the mileage on the Season Odometer whenever this DTC is current.

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS

The IPC must be replaced. Refer to the most recent service information to obtain an approximate mileage and contact an authorized Delco service center. The failed IPC may be used by the service center to obtain the approximate odometer data for the replacement IPC.
