Chart 13 Security Indicator Does Not Illuminate

Diagnostic Chart:

Electrical Diagram:

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
Battery voltage is applied at all times to the "SECURITY SYSTEM" indicator lamp in the I/P cluster. The "SECURITY SYSTEM" indicator lamp ground is controlled solely by the RCDLR/TDM via CKT 264.

CHART TEST DESCRIPTION
Number(s) below refer to circled number(s) on the diagnostic chart.

1. Checks for unwanted ground on CKTs 156 and 159.
2. Test instrument cluster for normal operation.
3. Checks for B + to instrument cluster.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
If the "SECURITY SYSTEM" indicator never illuminates check I/P Fuse #33 or battery source of voltage to maxifuse #2.

Check for loose or poor connections at RCDLR/TDM connector.

In the event a door is left open or a defective mini-wedge or tamper switch is closed to ground (CKT 156/159 is grounded), the "SECURITY SYSTEM" indicator will go out after 10 minutes of operation, or sooner if the ignition is turned to "RUN." After the ignition is turned "OFF," the security system indicator will stay "OFF" until CKT 156/159 is repaired or ungrounded. The "SECURITY SYSTEM" indicator will go out whether it is being pulsed or "ON" steady.
