I039

Diagnostic Chart:

Wiring Diagram:

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION

The Speed Sensitive Suspension (SSS) controller communicates with the IPC over CKT 1020. Code I039 will set if CKT 1020 (II12) is HI when vehicle speed is less than 5 mph, or if CKT 1020 (II12) is LOW when vehicle speed is greater than 15 mph.

NOTICE: Code I039 will set during normal SSS diagnostic mode. If SSS diagnosis has been recently performed, clear Code I039, test drive vehicle, and recheck for codes.

Possible causes of this code are:

^ SSS fault detected by the SSS control module.

^ SSS diagnostic mode entered.

^ Loss of IPC vehicle speed information.

^ Open or short on CKT 1020, CKT 818, or CKT 817.

^ Faulty SSS control module.

During the time the failure is present, the D1C will display 'SERVICE RIDE CONTROL'.

TEST DESCRIPTION

Test numbers refer to circled numbers on the diagnostic chart.

1. If P024 is stored, a vehicle speed sensor problem may be the source of this code.

2. If the speedometer does not function, an open or short on CKT 818 may be the fault. See inoperative speedometer diagnosis. Speedometer Inoperative or Inaccurate

3. The problem is not with the vehicle speed sensor or the IPC. SUSPENSION will diagnose the SSS system.

NOTES ON INTERMITTENTS

Intermittent code setting may be caused by wiring problems or speed related conditions. It may be helpful to retrieve snapshot data for I039 and record parameters ID60 (vehicle speed) and II12 (SSS input) to determine conditions at the time of the SSS fault.
