System Description

OPERATION

The Central Control Module (CCM) is part of the computer network. The CCM has an internal microprocessor and uses a single data line (CKT 800) to communicate with all the other components. The data communication gives the CCM control over some of the Powertrain Control Module's (PCM) self diagnostic capabilities in addition to its own.

The CCM controls body sub-systems such as:
^ Courtesy lamp control.
^ Retained accessory power (RAP).
^ Variable effort steering.
^ Illuminated entry.
^ Delayed interior lighting.
^ Daytime running lamps.
^ Personal Automotive Security System (Passkey).
^ Twilight sentinel.

Information is shared between the CCM and the PCM. For example, the PCM will not allow the injectors to operate during start-up unless it receives a signal from the CCM that the security system status (Passkey) is correct and the vehicle is not under theft conditions.
