Memory Seat Control
DESCRIPTIONThe six-way power seats move when voltage is applied to one or more of the three Seat Motors. The direction the motor turns depends on the polarity of the supply voltage which is set by the control switches and sent to the motors by the Seat Memory Module. Note that control power only, not motor power, comes from the LH Seat Switch.
The three Seat Motors directly operate the three seat movements: Front Height, Rear Height, and Forward-Back. The Memory Seat System provides an automatic return of the driver's seat to one of two reset positions.
The Memory Seat Module must see 12 volts at terminal "D," from the Park/Neutral position and Backup Lamp Switch Assembly. Voltage will be present if the gear selector is in the "PARK" position. Once the gear selector is moved out of the "PARK" position, voltage will not be present at terminal "D" of the Memory Seat Module, therefore disabling the Memory Seats.
Voltage from the I/P Fuse Block Circuit Breaker is first applied to the Seat Memory Module, which then operates the motors, depending on the Switch inputs received.
The Seat Memory Module controls the three Seat Motors by turning them off and on by using their selected directions. These selections are made by counting motor pulses produced when the seat is moved to the desired position for the first time.
The Solid State unit in the module stores this pulse count in its memory, and is able to remember the seat location.
If the Set Memory Button is pushed, and the Memory Select Switch is moved to either the Memory 1 position or Memory 2 position, then the pulse counts for each of the three motors are stored. When that memory position is selected at a later time, the seat will return to that set position.
With the Easy Exit Switch closed, voltage is applied simultaneously to the Memory 1 and Memory 2 inputs of the Seat Memory Module. The module takes this as a signal to move the seat to a fully down and fully back position. The module applies voltage to all three LH Seat Motors until the seat is fully back and down. The Easy Exit function will operate the Ignition Switch in "OFF."
Each motor contains an Electronic Circuit Breaker (ECE). It resets only after voltage is removed from the motor.
