SERVICE MANUAL UPDATE
SUBJECT:
SECTION 6B - REVISED COOLING SYSTEM AND WATER PUMP REMOVAL IN FORMATION
MODELS:
1993 CADILLAC ELDORADO AND SEVILLE
This bulletin provides revised information for the 1993 Service Manual. The third paragraph on page 6B-2 under "General Description" should be revised with the following description of the cooling system. The water pump removal and installation on page 6B-10 should be revised to indicate usage of special tool J 38816-A.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
This cooling system draws coolant from the radiator by the water pump and passes it through the thermostat on the inlet side of the water pump.
The coolant enters the block at the rear of the engine from the water crossover and then it is routed through the cylinder heads back to the water crossover. At this point, the coolant has four possible routes: the radiator, the bypass, the heater core, and the throttle body heater circuit.
WATER PUMP REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION:
To properly service the 4.6L water pump, the procedure should be followed that is described in the Service Manual. In addition to the Service Manual procedure, special tool J 38816-A should be used. This special tool is used to remove/install the water pump assembly from the water pump housing.
