Exhaust Manifold: Service and Repair

Right Side

1. Disable airbag system and relieve fuel pressure as outlined under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable, then remove air cleaner and exhaust crossover pipe.
3. Disconnect oxygen sensor and coolant temperature sensor electrical connectors.
4. Remove catalytic converter air pipe to AIR pipe clip bolt.
5. Remove two forward, upper exhaust manifold to cylinder head bolts.
6. Raise and support vehicle.
7. Remove converter air pipe bracket from stud.
8. Remove manifold to converter exhaust pipe.
9. Remove five remaining exhaust manifold to cylinder head attaching bolts.
10. Disconnect AIR pipe from manifold.
11. Remove exhaust manifold from vehicle.
12. Reverse procedure to install.
13. Rearm airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.

Left Side

1. Disable airbag system and relieve fuel pressure as outlined under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES.
2. Disconnect ground cable, then remove cooling fans.
3. Remove exhaust crossover pipe.
4. Remove drive belts.
5. Remove AIR pump pivot bolt.
6. Remove belt tensioner and power steering pump brace.
7. Disconnect AIR pipe from manifold.
8. Remove exhaust manifold from vehicle.
9. Reverse procedure to install.
10. Rearm airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.
