B333

Code B333:

Display Circuit:

DESCRIPTION:

Code B333 will set if the ignition is on and the BCM is not able to exchange data with the DERM (if any other communication codes are stored along with B333. See the chart on multiple intermittent codes). When this is the only communication code stored, the problem must be one of the following:

An open CKT 800 between the BCM and the DERM, and a second open between the IPC and the DERM.

An open or short in the DERM power or ground circuit.

A faulty DERM.

During the time the failure is present, no DERM diagnostic information will be available for display. Also, while in the service diagnostic mode, this code will remain active, always checking for proper operation.

TEST DESCRIPTION: Numbers below refer to numbers on the diagnosis chart.

1. Under normal conditions, the DERM will cycle the telltale between 7 and 9 times at key on. If this is not happening, a power, ground, or internal DERM failure is indicated.

2. If multiple codes are present, a data line fault is indicated and should be diagnosed useing the multiple communication code chart.

3. A normal data line will fluctuate voltage as data signals are sent. If the voltage does not fluctuate at the DERM connector A9, an open in circuit 800 between the DERM and the BCM is indicated.

NOTE ON INTERMITTENTS:

If only code B333 is stored as History, check the power and grounds for intermittent faults and circuit 800 to the BCM for an intermittent open.
