Oil Pan: Service and Repair

Fig. 18 Oil Pan & Gasket:

1. Remove distributor cap and align rotor with No. 1 firing position.
2. Disconnect ground cable, remove dipstick and drain oil pan.
3. Remove upper radiator support and fan shroud attaching screws.
4. Remove flywheel cover and starter.
5. Disconnect exhaust pipes and crossover pipe on single exhaust models.
6. Disconnect engine mounts, then raise engine.
7. Remove oil pan bolts and oil pan, Fig. 18.
8. Reverse procedure to install. Torque oil pan bolts to specifications. Drain engine oil, then remove oil pan.
