TPS Circuit:

DESCRIPTION:

This diagnostic test monitors idle speed the status of the Park or Neutral switch for a transition. If idle speed is greater than desired the ECM will retard the spark and set the code. This code can be driver induced.

TEST CONDITIONS:

Codes E21 and E22 not set.

FAILURE CONDITIONS:

1. Engine running.
2. Engine speed 600 rpm greater than desired.
3. Vehicle speed less than 6 mph.
4. Throttle angel of 20 degrees or less.

ACTION TAKEN:

1. Code is set.
2. No SERVICE ENGINE SOON lamp.
3. Retard ignition timing.

NOTES ON FAULT TREE:

1. Drive vehicle and note parameter P.2.3, if parameter changes from 11 to 10 while vehicle is in gear fault will set.
