Cruise Control Circuit:

DESCRIPTION:

The ECM continuously compares the cruise control servo position sensor to the throttle position. This diagnostic test monitors for a throttle position greater than 20° and the servo position greater than commanded by the ECM for 2 seconds.

TEST CONDITIONS:

Cruise control engaged.

FAILURE CONDITIONS:

Throttle angle greater than 20° and the servo position sensor indicating a stroke greater than commanded.

ACTION TAKEN:

1. Disable cruise control for entire ignition cycle.
2. ECM turns on SERVICE ENGINE SOON lamp.

NOTE ON INTERMITTENTS:

Manipulate ECM, 56 way engine to dash and servo connectors, plus affected wiring and note display for a rapid change in servo position. Check for an intermittent short or voltage on CKT 403.
