Throttle Body Assembly Removal and Replacement
Throttle Body Assembly - Exploded View:
Throttle Body And Heater:
Throttle Body Identification:
REMOVAL:
1. Remove the air inlet duct.
2. Disconnect the ISC and TPS electrical connectors.
3. Disconnect the vacuum lines. Note the position of each line.
4. Disconnect the throttle, TV and cruise control cables.
5. Remove the four throttle body retaining bolts.
6. Remove the throttle body and gasket(s) from the upper intake manifold and/or throttle heater. Discard the gasket.
7. Clean the gasket surface on the upper manifold, throttle heater and throttle body assembly.
INSTALLATION:
1. Install the new flange gasket.
2. Install the throttle body and the four throttle body attaching bolts and tighten to 20 Nm (15 lb.ft).
3. Connect the throttle, TV and cruise control cables.
4. Connect the vacuum lines.
5. Connect the ISC and TPS electrical connectors.
6. Install the air inlet duct.
THROTTLE BODY CLEANING PROCEDURE:
1.Remove the air intake duct from the throttle body.
2. Clean the primary throttle bore and the area behind and around the throttle plate using a clean shop towel with GM Top Engine Cleaner (Part No. 1052626) or AC-Delco Carburetor Tune-Up Conditioner (Part No. X66-P) or equivalent.
CAUTION: DO NOT use any solvent that contains methyl ethyl ketone. DO NOT clean the secondary throttle blade.
3. Disconnect the negative battery cable to reset the learned TPS value.
4. Recheck the TPS value with the ISC retracted to assure the TPS parameter (ED01) is within -1.0 to +1.0 limits. Refer to ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURES/MINIMUM AIR, TPS AND ISC ADJUSTMENTS.
TUBE MODULE ASSEMBLY
(TWO OR FOUR TUBE)
REMOVAL:
1. Remove the module attaching screws, refer to THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY (EXPLODED VIEW)
2. Remove the tube assembly and gasket. Discard the gasket.
3. Clean the gasket sealing surfaces to insure proper sealing.
INSTALLATION:
1. Install a new tube module gasket.
2. Install the tube module and attaching screws, tighten to 3.4 Nm (30 lb.in).
