E065

DFI Cruise Control Circuit:

DESCRIPTION:

Code E065 is designed to protect the engine from overheating. The ECM monitors coolant temperature and will disable cruise if the coolant temperature rises above 126°C. A code E065 will be stored by the ECM to alert the technician to the reason the cruise was disabled. If an intermittent code E065 is stored, manipulate the coolant sensor wiring cable observing ECM data ED04 "Coolant Temp" If the parameter jumps to a high reading (greater than 126°C) repair the intermittent wiring on connector.

Review the snapshot data parameters stored with this code to verify failure condition.

Code E065 sets when coolant temperature goes between 126°C, with the cruise engaged. If code E065 is set, cruise will disengage and code E065 will store in memory-NO TELLTALES ARE ILLUMINATED. If code E065 is accompanied by hard or intermittent code E014, go to chart "CODE E014". If code E065 is found, diagnose for engine overheating.

TEST CONDITIONS:

1. Cruise engaged.

FAILURE CONDITIONS:

1. Coolant greater than 126°C.

ACTION TAKEN:

1. Disable cruise control.

WHEN ALL DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIRS ARE COMPLETED, CLEAR CODES AND VERIFY OPERATION
