ECM Code E063:




DFI Cruise Control Circuit:





DESCRIPTION:

Code E063 will set and disengage the cruise control if vehicle speed is 20 MPH higher than the set speed. This code is used as a type of safety valve to the cruise control system, and will be set under normal conditions if the operator accelerates using the gas pedal and goes 20 MPH over the cruise set speed.

TEST CONDITIONS:

1. Cruise control enabled.
2. Cruise control engaged.
3. Cruise control not in the resume mode.

FAILURE CONDITIONS:

Vehicle speed 20 MPH higher than set speed for .5 seconds.

ACTION TAKEN:

1. Cruise control disengaged.

NOTES ON FAULT TREE:

1. Checking for the ability of the servo to pull in.

2. This step checks for the ability of the servo to be released.

3. This step checks the vent and vacuum outputs of the ECM for proper operation.

NOTE ON INTERMITTENTS:

If code E063 is setting intermittently make sure owner is aware that overrunning the cruise set speed by more than 2O MPH will cause this code and disengage the cruise system. This code will not be caused by vacuum leaks or vacuum supply problems. It can only be set by the vehicle speed exceeding the set speed by 20 MPH.
