TEST CONDITIONS
1. Always tested.

FAILURE CONDITIONS
Set/Coast or Resume/Accel signal present when the cruise ON/OFF switch is turned "ON."

ACTION TAKEN
1. Disengage cruise control for entire ignition cycle.

DESCRIPTION
When the cruise control ON/OFF switch is "ON," system voltage is available at one side of the normally open contacts on the Set/Coast and Resume/Accel switches. If the cruise control ON/OFF switch is in the "ON" position this system voltage is available to the Set/Coast and Resume/Accel switches at key on. If the Set/Coast or the Resume/Accel switches were stuck or their signal wires to the ECM were shorted to voltage, the vehicle could begin cruise operation. To prevent this, Code EO67 will set and disable cruise control if signal voltage from the Set/Coast (CKT 84) or Resume/Accel (CKT 87) is HI when the cruise control ON/OFF switch is turned from "OFF" to "ON" or when the ignition key is turned on and the cruise control ON/OFF switch was left "ON." Cruise control will be disabled until the ECM sees a LO on both of these signals.

Notes on Fault Tree
1. ECM inputs EI83 and EI84 display Set/Coast and Resume/Accel switch status as HI or LO depending on the voltage state at the ECM. If one of these inputs stays HI when the switches are cycled, that particular switch or signal wire is shorted to voltage.
2. This step checks to see if short circuit reading is due to switch or circuit.

Notes on Intermittents
If an intermittent Code EO67 is being set, manipulate the related wiring while observing ECM inputs EI83 and EI84. If the failure is induced the reading will jump from LO to HI with the switch off (not depressed). This code can also be set by the operator if the cruise ON/OFF switch is turned "ON", or the ON/OFF switch was left on when the ignition key is turned on and the operator was depressing either the Set/Coast or Resume/Accel switches.
