FAILURE CONDITIONS
Servo position less than or equal to 4% for 1 second.

ACTION TAKEN
1. Disable cruise control.

DESCRIPTION
Code EO65 will detect an open or shorted to ground cruise control servo position sensor. The cruise position sensor is a variable inductance sensor whose inductance changes with servo position. ECM data ED70 displays cruise servo positive in percent of stroke (0-100%).

Code EO65 sets when the ECM detects a low or high voltage indicating a short to ground or open in the cruise servo position sensor circuit.

Notes on Fault Tree
1. ECM output override ES07 will command the C/C servo to pull in. Vacuum to the servo must be present.
2. Checking the ECM's ability to recognize a low voltage signal on CKT 398.
3. Checking for a low resistance solenoid. Resistance should be greater than 20 ohms. Run the engine to fill the vacuum reservoir or attach a vacuum source to the C/C servo during this procedure.

Notes on Intermittents
If an intermittent Code EO65 is stored, manipulate related wiring while observing ECM data ED70. If the failure is induced, the parameter value will jump from its normal value to a low or high reading.
