Improper Idle Speed

1. Diagnose and repair all stored codes.
2. Perform switch tests as previously described and repair as necessary.
3. Observe Throttle Switch light above Lo button on control panel as throttle is released. If light comes on, proceed to step 4. If light does not come on, refer to ``Code .7.2 Throttle Switch Circuit'' diagnosis.
4. Note idle speed when coolant reaches normal operating temperature. If idle speed is too low, proceed to step 5. If idle speed is too high, proceed to step 6. If idle is rough or speed surges, proceed to step 7.
5. Perform ``Fuel System Diagnosis'' as previously described, then enter diagnostic Code .9.6 and check ISC motor for movement. If motor moves in both directions, the fuel injection system is operating properly. If motor moves in only one direction, refer to ``Code 30 Idle Speed Control Circuit'' diagnosis.
6. Check ignition timing, TPS adjustment and minimum air rate and adjust as necessary. Check system for vacuum leaks and repair as necessary, then enter diagnostic Code .9.6 and check ISC motor for movement. If motor moves in both direction, the fuel injection system is operating properly. If motor moves in only one direction, refer to ``Code 30 Idle Speed Control Circuit'' diagnosis.
7. Perform ``EGR Diagnosis'' and ``Fuel System Diagnosis'' as previously described. Check A/C compressor signal, then inspect system for vacuum leaks and repair as necessary. Ensure ignition wires are properly routed, then check ignition timing and adjust as necessary. If all checks are satisfactory, the fuel injection system is operating properly.
