Throttle Body: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. Raise hood and remove air cleaner assembly.
2. Disconnect the following electrical connectors: ISC motor, TPS and both injectors.
3. Remove both throttle return springs, cruise control and throttle linkage and downshift cable, Fig. 40.
4. Disconnect the following hoses and lines from rear of throttle body: fuel inlet line, fuel return line, brake booster line, MAP hose and AIR hose.
5. Remove PCV, EVAP and EGR hoses from front of throttle body.
6. Remove three throttle body mounting screws, then the throttle body and gasket, Fig. 40.

INSTALLATION

1. Install new throttle body gasket to intake manifold, then the throttle body. Torque three retaining screws to 15 ft. lbs.
2. Connect vacuum lines and fittings to front and rear of throttle body, Fig. 41.
3. Install downshift cable, cruise control, throttle linkages and both throttle return springs.
4. Check and, if necessary, adjust TPS and ISC motor as outlined previously.
