This code indicates that the coolant sensor signal received by the ECM is too low. Possible causes of this condition are as follows:
a. Shorted coolant sensor.
b. Defective or improperly connected wiring.
c. ECM cannot process signal.
To diagnose a Code 14, proceed as follows:
1. Turn ignition on, enter diagnostics and display parameter .0.4. Shorted circuit reading will be 142-151° C.
2. Disconnect sensor connector.
3. If value of parameter .0.4 is (-)40° to (-)35° C, replace coolant sensor.
4. If value of parameter .0.4 is (-)34° C or greater in step 3, circuit No. 410 is shorted to ground or to circuit No. 476. Repair as necessary.
