SUBJECT: FRONT DOOR WINDOW SWITCH PLATE RETAINER
MODELS AFFECTED: 1985 FWD DEVILLE AND FLEETWOOD
The door window switch plate retainer and/or clip may break on 1985 "C" cars allowing the switch plate to become loose. If this condition is encountered, it may be repaired as follows:
1. Remove switch plate from door armrest assembly.
2. Clamp switch plate face down in vise.
NOTICE: Center switch plate between two (2) pieces of wood to avoid damaging switch plate finish.

3. File or grind retainer attaching stud(s) until smooth.
4. Center punch switch plate stud(s) prior to drilling.
5. Using a 3/32" (2.75mm) drill with a drill stop set at 9/32" (7mm), drill hole(s) at locations shown in Figure 1.
6. Install retainer and/or clip with a self-tapping panhead #4 machine screw(s) as shown in Figure 1.
7. Connect wiring and install switch plate to door armrest.
8. Check switch for proper operation.
For warranty purposes, use labor Operation No. T0130 at .3 hour which includes R & R and repair.
