Body - Front Wheelhouse Splash Shield Snapping Noise

Bulletin No. T 85-18
File In Group 3B
Number 14 Date Oct. '84
SUBJECT: FRONT WHEELHOUSE SPLASH SHIELD TO TIE ROD CONTACT

MODELS AFFECTED: 1984 CIMARRON

Splash Shield Location:

Some 1984 Cimarrons may experience a "snapping" noise during steering or wheel jounce motions, especially during cold weather.

This condition may be caused by contact between the front wheelhouse splash shields and the steering tie rods, and can be corrected by enlarging both the left and right splash shield openings by approximately 15 mm (9/16 in.) around their entire inner circumference. This modification may be performed without removing the splash shield by using a knife or shears.
