ELDORADO REAR COMPARTMENT LID HINGE BINDING

FIGURE 1 - Repairing A Bind Between Hinge Arm And Hinge Box:

A binding condition on rear compartment lid hinges may be seen on 1983 Eldorados equipped with torque rods. The bind occurs between the hinge arm and the hinge box on either right and/or left hinge assembly as indicated in Figure 1. This condition may at first appear to be low output or misadjusted torque rods.

Correct this condition by prying the hinge arm away from the hinge box as shown in Figure 1. Apply a heavy lube to both surfaces and check for proper operation.
For warranty purposes, use Operation T0079 at 0.2 hour for one or both sides.
