Water Pump Replacement (LS4)

Removal Procedure




1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (L26, LY7 GE 47716 Fill) (Service and Repair)Cooling System Draining and Filling (L26 Static Fill) (Service and Repair)Cooling System Draining and Filling (LY7 Static Fill) (Service and Repair)Cooling System Draining and Filling (LS4 GE47716 Fill) (Service and Repair)Cooling System Draining and Filling (LS4 Static Fill) (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the battery and battery tray. Refer to Battery Tray Replacement (LY7) ()Battery Tray Replacement (L26) ()Battery Tray Replacement (LS4) (Service and Repair).
3. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement - Accessory (Service and Repair).
4. Remove the water pump bolts (318).
5. Remove the water pump (300) and gasket (314). Discard the gasket.
6. Clean and inspect the water pump gasket mating surfaces.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the water pump (300) and a NEW gasket (314).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice).

2. Tighten the water pump bolts (318).

Tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

3. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement - Accessory (Service and Repair).
4. Install the battery tray and battery. Refer to Battery Tray Replacement (LY7) ()Battery Tray Replacement (L26) ()Battery Tray Replacement (LS4) (Service and Repair).
5. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (L26, LY7 GE 47716 Fill) (Service and Repair)Cooling System Draining and Filling (L26 Static Fill) (Service and Repair)Cooling System Draining and Filling (LY7 Static Fill) (Service and Repair)Cooling System Draining and Filling (LS4 GE47716 Fill) (Service and Repair)Cooling System Draining and Filling (LS4 Static Fill) (Service and Repair).
