Water Pump Replacement (RPOs L26/L32)
Removal Procedure
1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (L26, LY7 GE 47716 Fill) (Service and Repair)Cooling System Draining and Filling (L26 Static Fill) (Service and Repair)Cooling System Draining and Filling (LY7 Static Fill) (Service and Repair)Cooling System Draining and Filling (LS4 GE47716 Fill) (Service and Repair)Cooling System Draining and Filling (LS4 Static Fill) (Service and Repair).
2. Reposition the accessory wiring junction block.
3. Loosen the water pump pulley bolts.
4. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement (L26) (Service and Repair).
5. Remove the water pump pulley bolts.
6. Remove the water pump pulley.
7. Remove the power steering pump mounting bolts and reposition. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement (L26) (Service and Repair)Power Steering Pump Replacement (LY7) (Service and Repair)Power Steering Pump Replacement (LS4) (Service and Repair).
8. Remove the water pump bolts.
9. Remove the water pump.
10. Remove the water pump gasket.
11. Clean and inspect the water pump gasket mating surfaces.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the gasket and the water pump.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice).
2. Install the water pump bolts.
* Tighten the long water pump bolts to 34 N.m (25 lb ft).
* Tighten the short water pump bolts to 22 N.m (16 lb ft).
3. Install the water pump pulley.
4. Install the water pump pulley bolts.
Tighten the bolts to 13 N.m (115 lb in).
5. Install the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement (L26) (Service and Repair)Power Steering Pump Replacement (LY7) (Service and Repair)Power Steering Pump Replacement (LS4) (Service and Repair).
6. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement (L26) (Service and Repair).
7. Install the accessory wiring junction block.
8. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (L26, LY7 GE 47716 Fill) (Service and Repair)Cooling System Draining and Filling (L26 Static Fill) (Service and Repair)Cooling System Draining and Filling (LY7 Static Fill) (Service and Repair)Cooling System Draining and Filling (LS4 GE47716 Fill) (Service and Repair)Cooling System Draining and Filling (LS4 Static Fill) (Service and Repair).
