Power Steering Pump Replacement



Power Steering Pump Replacement (LY7)

Removal Procedure

1. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
2. Remove the drive belt.
3. Turn the steering wheel to the right in order to allow clearance to remove the pump.
4. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
5. Remove the right front tire and wheel.
6. Disconnect the power steering pump inlet hose from the power steering pump.
7. Disconnect the power steering pressure hose from the power steering pump.




8. Remove the power steering pump mounting bolts.
9. Remove the power steering pump from the engine.
10. Cap the power steering pump fittings and hoses to prevent contamination.
11. Remove the power steering pump pulley.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the power steering pump pulley.
2. Remove the caps from the power steering pump fittings and hoses.
3. Position the power steering pump (1) on the engine.
4. Install the power steering pump mounting bolts. HAND TIGHTEN ONLY.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

5. Tighten the mounting bolt (3).

Tighten the mounting bolt (3) to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

6. Tighten the rear power steering pump mounting bolt (2).

Tighten the rear power steering pump mounting bolt (2) to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

Important: Clean the material from the power steering pressure hose and install a new seal.

7. Connect the power steering pressure hose to the power steering pump.

Tighten the hose to 40 N.m (30 lb ft).

8. Connect the power steering reservoir outlet hose to the power steering pump.
9. Install the right front tire and wheel.
10. Lower the vehicle.
11. Install the drive belt.
12. Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
13. Bleed the power steering system.
14. Inspect the system for leaks.
