Ignition Coil(s) Replacement - Bank 1



IGNITION COIL(S) REPLACEMENT - BANK 1

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Turn the ignition OFF.
2. Remove the engine cover.
3. If you are replacing the ignition coil for cylinder 5, remove and reposition the intake manifold. Perform the following steps.
1. Disconnect the air cleaner duct from the throttle body.
2. Disconnect the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose from the right bank camshaft cover.
3. Remove the intake manifold bolts.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT separate the upper intake manifold from the lower intake manifold.




4. Remove the intake manifold brace bolts (1 and 2) and the brace.
5. Remove the upper intake manifold.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT disconnect the fuel pipes and/or hoses.




4. Remove the ignition coil electrical connectors.




5. Remove the ignition coil bolts.
6. Remove the ignition coils.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the ignition coils.
2. Install the ignition coil bolts.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Tighten the ignition coil bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).




3. Install the ignition coil electrical connectors.
4. If necessary, install the intake manifold.
5. Install the engine cover.
