Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement- Right
Removal Procedure





1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the drive belt.
3. Remove the generator.
4. Remove the generator bracket.
5. Remove the right spark plug wires.
6. Remove the EVAP purge valve.
7. Remove the ignition coil bracket with the coils.
8. Remove the Ignition Coil bracket Studs.
9. Remove the vacuum hose from the grommet in the right valve rocker arm cover.
10. Remove the right valve rocker arm cover bolts.
11. Remove the right valve rocker arm cover.
12. Remove the right valve rocker arm cover gasket.
13. Clean the valve rocker arm cover.
14. Clean the valve rocker arm cover gasket mating surfaces.

Installation Procedure

Important: Apply sealant GM P/N 12346286 (Canadian P/N 10953472) or equivalent at the cylinder head to lower intake manifold joint.





1. Apply sealant at the cylinder head to lower intake manifold joint at the rear of the lower intake manifold (1).





2. Apply sealant at the cylinder head to lower intake manifold joint at the front of the lower intake manifold (1).
3. Install a new right valve rocker arm cover gasket.





4. Install the right valve rocker arm cover.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

5. Install the right valve rocker arm cover bolts.
^ Tighten the bolts to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
6. Install the vacuum hose to the grommet in the right valve rocker arm cover.
7. Install the ignition coil bracket studs.
8. Install the ignition coil bracket with the coils.
9. Install the EVAP purge valve.
10. Install the right spark plug wires.
11. Install the generator bracket.
12. Install the generator.
13. Install the drive belt.
14. Connect the negative battery cable.
15. Inspect for leaks.
