Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement (Left)
Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement- LeftRemoval Procedure
1. Drain the cooling system.
2. Remove the left spark plug wires.
3. Remove the thermostat bypass hose and the pipe.
4. Remove the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve from the left valve rocker arm cover.
5. Remove the left valve rocker arm cover bolts.
6. Remove the left valve rocker arm cover.
7. Remove the left valve rocker arm cover gasket.
8. Clean the valve rocker arm cover.
9. Clean the valve rocker arm cover gasket mating surfaces.
Installation Procedure
Important: Apply sealant GM P/N 12346286 (Canadian P/N 10953472) or equivalent at the cylinder head to lower intake manifold joint.
1. Apply sealant at the cylinder head to lower intake manifold joint at the rear of the lower intake manifold (1).
2. Apply sealant at the cylinder head to lower intake manifold joint at the front of the lower intake manifold (1).
3. Install a new left valve rocker arm cover gasket.
4. Install the left valve rocker arm cover.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
5. Install the left valve rocker arm cover bolts.
^ Tighten the bolts to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
6. Install the PCV valve to the left valve rocker arm cover.
7. Install the thermostat bypass pipe.
8. Install the left spark plug wires.
9. Fill the cooling system.
10. Inspect for leaks.
