Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Replacement

- J 36660-A Torque Angle Meter
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the left or the right valve rocker arm covers.
2. Remove the rocker arm bolts and discard the bolts.
Important: Place the valve train parts in a rack in order to ensure that they are installed in the same location from which they were removed.
Important: Use care when removing the pushrods. Ensure that they do not fall down into the lifter valley.
3. Remove the rocker arms.
4. Remove the pushrods.
Installation Procedure
1. Coat the ends of the pushrods with prelube GM P/N 1052367 (Canadian P/N 992869) or the equivalent.
Important: The intake pushrods measure 144 mm (5.68 inch) long. The exhaust pushrods measure 152.5 mm (6.0 inch) long.
2. Install the pushrods and the rocker arms to their original location.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
3. Install the new valve rocker arm bolts.
3.1. Tighten the bolts to 14 Nm (124 in. lbs.).
3.2. Use the J 36660-A rotate the bolts an additional 30 degrees.
4. Install the left or the right valve rocker arm covers.
