Accelerator Pedal: Service and Repair

ACCELERATOR CONTROLS PEDAL REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Remove the left instrument panel sound insulator.
2. Remove the accelerator cable (5) from the accelerator pedal (1).
3. Remove the accelerator pedal bolt (2) and the stud (3).
4. Remove the accelerator pedal (1) from the cowl (4).

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the accelerator pedal (1) to the cowl (4).




2. Install the accelerator pedal bolt (3) and the stud (2).

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt and the stud to 5 N.m (44 lb in).

3. Install the accelerator cable (5) to the accelerator pedal (1).
4. Install the left instrument panel sound insulator.

IMPORTANT: Inspect for complete throttle opening and closing positions by operating the accelerator pedal. Inspect for proper carpet fit under the accelerator pedal.
