Service Procedure
1. Open the rear compartment (trunk) lid.2. Remove the push-in fasteners that attach the rear edge of the trim to the inside of the trunk lid. It is not necessary to remove all of the push-in fasteners or trim.
3. Reposition the trim as necessary to access the latch area.
Important
The left side of the illustration shows the inside release handle cable (1) routed INCORRECTLY (straight cable) and WITHOUT the plastic tie strap. The right side of the illustration shows the cable (2) routed CORRECTLY (cable bowed to the left) and WITH the plastic tie-strap (3).
4. Locate the inside release handle cable.
^ If the cable is routed INCORRECTLY (1), reposition it CORRECTLY (2) as shown in the view on the right side of the illustration above. Proceed to the next step.
^ If the cable is already routed correctly (2), proceed to the next step.
5. Install a plastic tie strap (3) that is 200 mm (8 in) or longer through the hole (4) in the sheet metal and around the cable as shown. Pull the tie strap snug.
6. Cut off the excess material from the tie strap.
7. Reposition the trunk lid trim and install the push-in fasteners.
8. Close the trunk lid.
9. Install the GM Recall Identification Label.
