Headliner Replacement (Without Sunroof)
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the passenger front seat.
2. Pull the door opening moldings down in order to clear headliner and the rear quarter trim. Refer to Weatherstrip Replacement - Rear Door Opening in Doors.
3. Remove the windshield pillar garnish molding.
4. Remove the center pillar garnish molding.
5. Remove the rear quarter upper garnish molding.
6. Remove the sunshades.
7. Remove the overhead console.
8. Remove the assist handles.
9. Disconnect the headliner electrical connectors.
* At the rear view mirror.
* Behind the rear quarter upper garnish moldings.
Notice: Use care when removing or installing the headliner. Excessive bending will damage the headliner.
10. Carefully pull the headliner down and cut the adhesive beads retaining the headliner to the cardboard insulator.
11. With the aid of an assistant, remove the headliner through the rear passenger door opening.
Installation Procedure
Caution: Do not attempt to repair or alter the head impact energy-absorbing material glued to the headliner or to the garnish trims. If the material is damaged, replace the headliner and/or the garnish trim. Failure to do so could result in personal injury.
Notice: Use care when removing or installing the headliner. Excessive bending will damage the headliner.
1. With the aid of an assistant, load the headliner into the vehicle through the rear passenger door opening.
2. With the aid of an assistant, raise the headliner into position.
3. Install the assist handles.
4. Install the sunshades.
5. Install the windshield pillar garnish molding.
6. Install the center pillar garnish molding.
7. Connect the headliner wiring harness connectors.
* Behind the rear quarter upper garnish moldings.
* At the rear view mirror.
8. Install the rear quarter upper trim panel.
Important: Ensure that the inside lip of the door opening weather-strip is properly seated to close out the headliner, sail panel, and pillar garnish moldings.
9. Install the door opening weather-strips in the door openings.
10. Install the overhead console.
11. Install the passenger front seat.
