Instrument Panel (I/P) Carrier Replacement

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Restraint System Service Precautions in Service Precautions.

1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 and SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 5 in Restraint Systems.
2. Remove the left sound insulator.
3. Remove the right sound insulator.
4. Remove the left instrument panel (I/P) outer trim panel.
5. Remove the right instrument panel (I/P) outer trim panel.
6. Remove the defroster grille.
7. Remove the I/P upper trim pad.
8. Remove the knee bolster.




9. Disconnect the body to I/P electrical connectors (1) at top, right outside corner of the I/P.




10. Disconnect the center I/P to body harness electrical connector.




11. Remove the I/P retainer.




12. Lower the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column-Tilt.
13. Remove the I/P carrier fasteners.
14. Remove the I/P carrier from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the I/P carrier to the vehicle.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install I/P carrier fasteners (1,2).

Tighten the I/P carrier fasteners (1,2) to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

3. Install the I/P carrier fasteners (3).

Tighten the I/P carrier fasteners (3) to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).




4. Install the I/P retainer.




5. Connect the body to I/P electrical connector (1) at the top, right outside corner of the I/P.




6. Connect the center I/P to body harness electrical connector.
7. Install the steering column.
8. Install the knee bolster.
9. Install the I/P upper trim pad.
10. Install the defroster grille.
11. Install the right I/P outer trim panel.
12. Install the left I/P outer trim panel.
13. Install the left sound insulator.
14. Install the right sound insulator.
15. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 and SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 5 in Restraint Systems.
