Front Door Latch: Service and Repair



Latch Replacement - Front Door

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the door trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Side Front Door (Service and Repair) .
2. Remove the water deflector. Refer to Water Deflector Replacement - Front Door Service and Repair
3. Disconnect the outside door handle rod.
4. Disconnect the lock cylinder rod, if applicable.




5. Disconnect the inside door handle rod from the door latch (1).
6. Disconnect the lock rod from the door latch (2).




7. Remove the door latch screws (1).
8. Depress the tab on the door latch retainer, securing the latch to the power window module.
9. Slide the door latch and retainer assembly forward to release the latch from the power window module.
10. Remove the wiring harness retainers from the power window module.
11. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
12. Remove the door latch and retainer.
13. Remove the door latch from the retainer.



Installation Procedure





1. Install the door latch onto the retainer.
Install the electrical connectors.
2. Install the door latch and retainer assembly into the door.
3. Slide the door latch retainer into the slots in the power window module.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

4. Install the door latch screws (1).

Tighten the screws to 10 N.m (89 lb in).





5. Install the inside door handle and lock rods to the door latch.
6. Fasten the inside door handle and lock rods to the latch by closing the clips (1, 2).
7. Install the outside door handle rod.
8. Install the lock cylinder rod, if applicable.

Important: Test for the proper operation of the door handles and lock cylinder before installing the water deflector and the door trim panel.


9. Install the water deflector. Refer to Water Deflector Replacement - Front Door Service and Repair
10. Install the door trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Side Front Door (Service and Repair) .
