Idle Speed/Throttle Actuator - Electronic: Service and Repair
IDLE AIR CONTROL (IAC) VALVE REPLACEMENTREMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Turn OFF the ignition.
2. Remove the EVAP purge valve.
3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the idle air control (IAC) valve.
4. Remove the 2 screws that retain the IAC valve.
5. Remove the idle air control valve.
6. Remove the O-ring from the idle air control valve.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
NOTE: The IAC valve may be damaged if installed with the cone (pintle) extended more than 28 mm (1-1/8 in). Measure the distance that the valve is extended before installing a new valve. The distance from the idle air control valve motor housing to the end of the idle air control valve pintle should be less than 28 mm (1-1/8 in). Manually compress the pintle until the extension is less than 28 mm (1-1/8 in).
1. Install a new O-ring to the IAC valve.
2. Install the IAC valve in the intake manifold.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
3. Install the 2 screws that retain the IAC valve.
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 3.0 N.m (27 lb in).
4. Connect the electrical connector to the idle air control valve.
5. Install the EVAP purge valve.
6. Turn the ignition ON for 10 seconds, then OFF for 5 seconds in order to reset the IAC valve.
7. Start the engine and allow the engine to reach a normal operating temperature.
